How Do You Unlock A Honeywell Thermostat?

The majority of thermostats have parental controls to stop kids from altering the temperature within the house. We’ve all been there. Sitting down to relax only to find the temperature of your house has become much lower than usual.

Upon inspecting your thermostat, you’ve found it has been adjusted. And even after telling the kids “not to mess with the thermostat,” they may think they’re doing the right thing if they are too hot or too cold.

That’s what kids do but that is also why Honeywell thermostats have parental controls! The best way to stop your thermostat from being changed is to lock certain settings in place.

However, some of these lockout modes can become difficult to unlock. Therefore, you may be stuck with a temperature longer than you desired.

Today, we are going to make sure your home is always at the ideal temperature. In this article, we will guide you through the different lockout modes that can be activated on your Honeywell thermostat and show you how to unlock each of them.

So, it doesn’t matter if you have forgotten how to unlock your thermostat. We are here to help! Let’s begin by taking a look at the various Honeywell thermostat lock modes that you can operate at home.

Different Honeywell thermostat lock modes

The main reason people lock their Honeywell thermostats is to control who can and can not change the device’s settings.

As with many thermostats, there is the option of locking the keypad with a “full” lock mode or a “partial” lock mode. This is visible when you access the “menu” section of your thermostat.

When we consider Honeywell thermostats, there are three types of lock settings available. These are:

  • Full – This will be shown on your thermostat as “On” and this is a full lock setting that prevents any access to its settings.
  • Partial – Your Honeywell thermostat will have a “Partial” lock setting. This allows you to change the temperature while all other settings on the device can not be accessed.
  • Off – Simply marked as “Off” on your thermostat, this means the keypad is unlocked at all times.

You can remove the “On” and “Part” lock settings by entering a PIN. If you want to change your heating schedule now and again, then we suggest keeping the “Part” setting in place. If you intend to leave the thermostat on a regular schedule, then you should set the lock to “Full.”

This will save time as your house will warm up and cool down at the same time every day.

Nonetheless, it i crucial that you do not forget your lock code. This code allows you to disable the lock mode so the system switches to an “Off” setting.

How to unlock different Honeywell thermostats

Once you have gotten to grips with the different lock settings on your Honeywell thermostat, you will need to understand the unlock procedure for your particular thermostat.

The following guidelines will help you unlock your Honeywell thermostat so you can get your desired temperatures once again.

T6 Pro Series Thermostat

If you own a T6 Pro Series Honeywell thermostat, then your PIN will be a four-digit number. Even though it’s the same number of digits as your regular bank card’s PIN, it is easy to forget these numbers. This is especially true if you don’t use your thermostat very often.

If you usually have a schedule in place, there is no need to remember the PIN as you lock the thermostat into the “Full” setting and leave it to do the rest.

Sometimes, someone else may have changed the lock configuration without you knowing which can be extremely frustrating. However, most T4 Pro thermostats use the PIN sequence of 1234. When it comes to the T6 Pro Series, though, you will need to do the following:

  1. Remove the thermostat’s faceplate.
  2. Locate a four-digit number on the top right of the thermostat.
  3. Add “1234” to this four-digit code.
  4. The number that is left after the addition will be the PIN of your thermostat.
  5. Press the center button that is labeled “Unlock.”
  6. Key in the password.
  7. Press the +/- keys on the display to change the numbers that are selected.
  8. Now, tap select to set this number.
  9. Repeat steps 7 and 8 until all four digits have been entered in the right order.
  10. Once this is done, your device will be unlocked. Therefore, your settings can now be adjusted easily and freely by yourself.

The unlock process is the same as the T6 Pro Series set out above.

  3. Tap the +/- buttons to change between the digits on the screen.
  4. Press “Select” to confirm the digit.
  5. Repeat steps 2 and 3 until all digits have been entered in the right order.

Your T6 Pro Series Smart thermostat will now be ready to adjust.
